Cat lovers around the world are a proud bunch. They love their kitties, but they also love to brag about their beloved feline friends. They’re proud of the feline life and the lifestyle it brings. 

But for some reason, there are a few people who are so incredibly rich that they make their cat rich! However, this doesn’t bode well for many people in the fiction world (and maybe in the real one, too).

To understand what we’re talking about, you might want to know a little bit about the Richest Cat in the World movie. 

This is a Disney movie that came out on March 9, 1986, and was directed by Greg Beeman and released by Walt Disney Television. It runs for 120 minutes and was one of the first movies Greg Beeman has ever directed.

What’s the Story About?

The movie starts with Oscar Kohlmeyer dying, leaving a million-dollar fortune to a talking cat named Leo Kohlmeyer. Leo is going to inherit five million dollars, but his owner’s nephew, Mr. Rigsby, will get 25 thousand dollars if he doesn’t contest his uncle’s will. 

Being greedy and controlling, Mrs. Rigsby forces her husband to fight in court. Rigsby’s relatives also try to kidnap the Leo from its owner so that they can get all of Kohlmeyer’s fortune.

Who Acted in the Movie?

The movie was a moderate success, being a television movie released as Disney Sunday Movie installments. It had several celebrities in it, including Ramon Bieri, Steven Kampmann, Caroline McWilliams, Steve Vinovich, George Wyner., and many more.

If you’re familiar with Love, Lies, and Murder (1991) or Badlands (1973), you might recognize the name Ramon Bieri. He was a well-known actor who later died of cancer in 2001.
