Experiment #3: Do People Use Different Passwords for Different Accounts?

You will survey to find out how many passwords people use for different online accounts.

The purpose of the survey is to find out how many passwords people typically use for different online accounts.

You can design the survey you want to conduct any way that you want to. For example, you might ask different questions based on whether you are giving the survey to adults or students.

You will then analyze your data to find out how many passwords people typically use, and whether people use the same password for different online accesses.

For example, people usually use the same password for different online accounts (e.g., email, social networking, work/school accounts, online gaming), and you might also discover which passwords people usually use in different categories (e.g., for different accounts).

Experiment #4: Can Attractive Packaging Lead to Healthier Eating?

A product’s packaging acts like a product’s salesperson. The packaging promotes the product, attracts the consumer’s attention, and encourages him to make an impulse purchase.

Most children’s products, like candy and treats, are colorful and have attractive packaging because that is what children like to look at.

What would happen if colorful packaging contained healthy food like carrots? Do children want to touch the carrots?

Children might be attracted to colorful packaging and may want to eat carrots. In this project, you will find out if colorful packaging can persuade children to eat carrots.

Experiment #5: Can Small Children Mistake Medicine for Candy?

Sometimes medicines come as colorful tablets or pills, or even as chewable gels. Sometimes, medicines look like candy to children or even to adults.

What clues can you use to tell the difference between medicine and candy? Can small children tell the difference between medicine and candy?

Do a quick study with a sample of children to find out if they can tell the difference between certain medicines and candy. You will need to get permission from the parents before you can conduct the study.

Learn More about Human Minds

Psychology experiments are not only interesting, but they can also be fun to perform. By trying out these experiments with your students, you will learn more about the psychological effects on the human mind and its dependent variable.
