Italy is the food capital of high-end cuisine. The standards are so high that there are dozens of Italian foods you can eat without worrying about the quality.

Therefore, when you move to Italy, it is essential to have a grasp on all the delicious dishes that are well known in your new country.

In this article, we decided to share with you four foods that most people probably had never heard of before moving to Italy, as well as some insight on how to cook these amazing food items.

1) Prosciutto

Prosciutto crudo, or prosciutto, as it is often called, is an Italian uncooked, unsmoked, and dry-seasoned ham. People usually serve it as thinly sliced meat, with some other variations according to the regions.

Common people also serve it as an appetizer with melon or fig, or as a side dish for spring vegetables.

2. Farro

Farro is an ancient grain which originated in the Mediterranean landscape. Today, however, it can be found all over the world. It is a substantial source of protein and has a nice nutty flavor.

Like barley, it contains high levels of protein and fiber but has a more oblong and larger grain shape.

It is very easy for you to consume farro by cooking it in a stovetop pan. Alternatively, you can cook it in a pressure cooker or a rice cooker.
