3. Punk Fashion

Punk rock was a reaction to the conservative fashions of the 1970s. It became popular in the mid-1970s and quickly spread throughout Europe and America.

Punk fashion included tight-fitting clothes, spiked hair, blue jeans, platform shoes, safety pins, Doc Martens boots, tattoos, and leather jackets. In 1976 British punk rockers The Sex Pistols were featured on the cover of “The NME” magazine wearing only black leather jackets with studs and mohawks.

Punk fashion became very popular in London and then spread to other parts of Europe and America.

4. Disco Fashion

Disco was a dance music genre that came out of the 1970s. The music was extremely popular in nightclubs and dance halls all over America from 1973 until 1982.

Disco had many sub-genres including soul disco (a mixture of soul music with disco), hi-NRG (a combination of pop music with synthesizers), Latin disco (music from Latin America), Miami bass (a mixture of house music with funk), Philadelphia soul (a combination of soul music with disco), New York disco (disco mixed with a unique blend of Italian sound), West Coast disco (a combination of funk with new wave).

5. Grunge Fashion

Grunge is a fashion style that emerged in the 1980s. Grunge fashion included loose-fitting clothing, leather jackets, Doc Martens boots, long hair, and scruffy facial hair.

This fashion was very popular among the members of the Seattle grunge scene (a genre of rock music). Grunge fashion spread throughout America in the mid-1980s and continued to be popular into the 1990s.
