Dogs are pack animals and as such, they are instinctively drawn to human foods. While some human foods are perfectly healthy for them, others can be dangerous and even deadly.

If you’re not sure which people foods your dog should avoid, here is a list of the top five human foods your dog should definitely stay away from.

What Human Food Your Dogs Shouldn’t Eat?

1. Grapes and Raisins

Although some dogs may not react negatively to grapes and raisins, these foods can cause kidney failure in others.

Vomiting, feeling groggy, and having diarrhea are common signs of poisoning in your furry friend after they ingest grapes or raisins.

If you don’t treat your dog for these common symptoms, the damage to their kidneys can cause them to urinate more than they should be able to. Additionally, they can have excessive thirst and have a poor appetite.

So, if you think that your pooch has eaten grapes or raisins, take them to the vet as soon as possible.

They could suffer a chronic kidney disease and even die from kidney failure in as little as three to four days.

2. Chocolate and caffeine

Eating chocolate can be hazardous to a dog’s health due to the presence of methyl xanthines, such as caffeine and theobromine.

The symptoms and level of poisoning that a dog will experience will depend on the quantity and kind of chocolate they eat.

Dark chocolate is the most dangerous type of chocolate for dogs as it contains more caffeine than other types.

Symptoms of toxicity to dogs can be vomiting, diarrhoea, dehydration, upset stomach, muscle tremors, seizures, abnormal heart rhythm, high body temperature, and even death.

So, always keep your dog away from chocolate and also other caffeinated drinks, like tea, coffee, and energy drinks, to avoid any health problems.

3. Raw or Undercooked Bones, Meat, and Eggs

Eating bones, meat, and eggs raw can be dangerous for your dog.

Undercooked bones can splinter and enter your dog’s body through their GI tract. These small fragments can cause serious damage to the intestines, liver, and other vital organs.

Raw meat can also contain harmful bacteria that can cause vomiting, diarrhoea, and even death in dogs.

Eggs can contain salmonella, which is a type of bacteria that can cause severe vomiting and diarrhea in dogs.

If you’re unsure whether your dog has eaten any bones, meat, or eggs, take them to the vet for an examination.
