Play-biting is the term that is used to describe when a cat bites at the clothing of another person, or even at the person himself. This behavior can become dangerous if not dealt with properly, especially if you receive a painful bite.
This article will give you some tips on how to prevent this from happening and what you can do to stop it from happening again.

In order for play-biting to occur, there must be some type of tension or disagreement between the two people involved. Sometimes this can be due to behavioral issues that are caused by improper socialization and training techniques or even lack of care from cat owners.
For example, adult cats might want to assert domination. You can see if its body language is tense and intimidating, almost pushing into aggressive behavior. However, aggressive biting can also mean that your cat wants some affection from you, especially if there is a period of time when you neglect it.
But oftentimes play-biting is a result of a cat that is just acting out on their own without regard for others. Or in some cases, they may just feel bored! In any case, if there is an underlying cause for this aggression in cats, usually we can resolve it quickly once the cat has had time to calm down and realize that these actions are unacceptable in most cases.

However, in other cases, especially when it happens suddenly, the only thing you can do is protect yourself and your clothing as best as possible until you have time to deal with this unwanted behavior properly.
It’s always best to seek cat behavior consultants’ help for situations like this as it can be very stressful for you as well as your cat. Refrain from physical punishment as it can traumatize your cat or even leads to a medical issue later on.
