Types of Overthinking

There are different types of overthinking that people commonly experience. Many people who suffer from them have mental distortions, or are constantly thinking in a way that is wrong.

Overgeneralizing

This type of overthinking happens when you expect something to happen in the future, based on a single event or other event in the past.

You will not accept the fact that many outcomes are possible to happen, and only assume that it is “always” or “never” happen.

When you try to generalize one past event to all future events, it can cause you to overthink and worry excessively about things that might not happen.
