What Does It Mean?
It’s been hinted at by a radio broadcast that was made earlier in the segment:
For the lost lonely souls who are racing to get to heaven, we’re all on the same highway, one that is never ending; tonight might be the night that we finally destroy our demons and get rid of them forever.
Even though we don’t know what exactly the guys have done, we can tell by how they look like they’ve been through a lot, and that their demons refuse to let them rest.
Characters Exploration
Where the first segment only hinted at the evil things that our characters are running from, the second episode explores its characters more fully.
Siren is a story about three girls who stayed the previous night just down the hall from Mitch’s motel room.
Eventually, when their van breaks down on the road, a couple who looks very sweet stops by and offers the girls a place to stay the night.
The girls reluctantly accept. Even though they are hesitant, they agree to go.
What Happens Next?
Upon arrival, Sadie (Fabianne Therese) feels like something is wrong.
Everyone has an off-kilter mood and everyone constantly talks about Sadie’s friend, Alex, who passed away in a car accident while she was still young.
When her friends eat a strange meatloaf that someone offers them for dinner, they get inducted into a blood ritual and try going after Sadie.
She encounters an apparition of Alex who appears to her as she is running, desperately hoping someone can help her.
From here, we can learn a little more about the cruel demands that the desert places on its victims.
Sadie has to confront her past in order that she can heal the wounds that she has received.
And as a result, we get to know more about the people who live in the desert.
At the expense of being consumed by darkness that plagues the land, they receive some eerie knowledge of every person who goes into the desert.
