How Can You Prevent High Cholesterol?

There are many things you can do to help lower your cholesterol. Follow these tips to help lower your cholesterol:

1. Exercise regularly

Physical activity, such as walking, jogging, swimming, or dancing, can help lower your cholesterol.

This is because it causes the body to burn off fat and break down existing fat in your body.

It also helps to increase the amount of HDL cholesterol in your body.

HDL cholesterol is the “good” cholesterol that helps to remove bad cholesterol from the blood.

HDL cholesterol can also lower your blood pressure and lower your risk of heart disease.

If you don’t like being outside in the winter, find another form of exercise that works for you, such as using an elliptical trainer, treadmill or stationary bike while watching TV.

2. Eat a balanced diet

Heart-healthy diet comprises a variety of foods. This includes whole grains, vegetables, fruit, lean meats, nuts and low-fat dairy products.

If you are taking medication for high cholesterol, then follow your doctor’s advice on what to eat.

There are foods that can raise your cholesterol levels and others that can help lower it.

Include a wide range of fruits and vegetables in your diet to get the vitamins and minerals that your body needs to fight against heart disease.

3. Consume low fat dairy products

We know that dairy products are full of calcium, which is great for your bones and teeth.

However, some dairy products contain a lot of saturated fat. The more saturated fat you consume, the higher your cholesterol levels will be.

The good news is that low fat dairy products are becoming more and more available in grocery stores.

You can now find low-fat cheeses, milk and yogurt in almost every grocery store!

You can prevent heart failure by consuming low fat dairy products.
