As a gamer, it is crucial to know how to be safe. It’s not just about staying safe in the real world (though that is just as important, if not more important than being safe in a virtual world).
Being safe in a virtual world is about being safe from other players. It is also just as important to know how to protect yourself from other players as to know how to protect yourself from the game itself.
There are many different things you can do to be safe in a virtual world. Here are the top five tips for being a safe gamer:
1. Never share personal information.
Under any circumstances, never, ever share your real name, address, phone number, or other information that could let someone know exactly who you are.
Never share your password with anyone, and never click on a link if you aren’t sure where it will lead.
2. Watch out for scams.
It is important to be wary of anyone who wants you to either give them money or give them passwords or other personal information.
Often, people will impersonate a well-known game developer or website to try and get your personal information. Don’t ever give out your personal information unless you are sure who is asking for it.
