Holidays mean having your kids do things they usually don’t do. It’s a wonderful opportunity to get them involved in science, with some guidance from you. Get them to help you do some science experiments that are easy enough for kids of all ages to do.

Here are a few of the science experiments for fun and safe kids, and they will help you entertain your kids on a rainy day!

1. Magic Potion

Ingredients Required: Baking Soda, Water, Plastic Cups, Vinegar, Food Coloring, Spoon, Bowl, Paper Towels, and a Timer.

Do your kids start asking your where their Hogwarts letter is? Try this fun potion experiment to keep them entertained. Over the stove or in the microwave, heat up some water.

Once it’s boiling, add 4 tsp. of baking soda. When the mixture bubbles up, add some food coloring. Let it fizz for a few minutes, and then add a few drops of vinegar.

Take a cup, and pour in the mixture. Once it’s fizzing again, pour it into another cup. Pour the mixture from one cup to another, and watch the colors mix together.

Mix red and blue food coloring to make purple. Mix yellow and blue to make green. Mix red and yellow to make orange. Mix yellow and red to make brown. Mix the colors to make all of your favorite colors!

2. Neon Slime

Ingredients Required: Borax, Glue, Food Coloring, Bowl, and a Spoon.

Slime is always a fun experiment to do, especially if you have a rainy day. It’s also a great sensory activity for kids to play with.

Get your kids to help you mix up some slime. Pour some glue into a bowl. Add some food coloring to make the slime colorful. Then, add the borax and mix it all together. Now your kids can play with slime to their heart’s content!
