Gaming is an expensive hobby, even if you don’t include the cost of actually owning a console. That’s why we’ve put together a few tips to help you save money on your gaming hobby, whether you’re a PC or console gamer.

1. Don’t Buy New

The most significant issue when it comes to the cost of gaming is buying new. If you’re going to buy a game, wait until it’s at least halfway through its life cycle before you purchase it. The longer it’s been out, the cheaper the game will be.

2. Hardware

Buying hardware is costly. A new, high-end graphics card can easily cost you more than $300, and a top-of-the-line monitor can be upwards of $500. The best solution? Build your own budget gaming PC. You’ll end up with a better computer and save hundreds of dollars by making it yourself.

3. Consoles

Buying a console is definitely the cheaper option, but you’ll end up spending even more money on top-tier games. Consider a used console or a refurbished console, but be sure to do your research first.
