Wedding is your big day, and it’s completely understandable to be wanting to look perfect on your wedding day. While it’s a day to celebrate, it’s also a day for the bride to look beautiful and take center stage.

If you’re having trouble figuring out what look you should apply, or what colors you should wear, this post is for you.

We’ve collected six tips for wedding makeup that we think are helpful for brides-to-be.

Tip #1: Keep it simple

This tip is for brides who have a specific idea of what they want their makeup to look like, but don’t want to do a full face. If you have an idea of what you want your look to be, but are still unsure on how to accomplish it, keep it simple.

Choose one or two colors and accent them with some shimmering powder and eyeliner. You can also choose to apply just the highlight and contour, or just the highlight.

As long as you have a good idea of what you want your makeup to look like, this tip will help you get there.

Tip #2: Avoid matching

We’ve all heard that makeup should be complementary to skin tone, but this isn’t always true. If your skin is more fair than tan, try applying some white powder to the cheeks and blend it out with some cream blush.

Or if your skin is more tan than fair, try using a pinky brown for the blush and highlighting.  This will give you a great match for your skin tone while also allowing you to experiment with colors that aren’t always available in bridal makeup kits.

Tip #3: Play around with eyeshadow

Brides tend to focus on their face makeup when it comes time for wedding day preparation, but eyes are an equally important part of the look! Eyeshadow is an easy way to give yourself depth without doing anything too crazy with foundation or concealer.

Try applying a neutral eyeshadow to the entire eyelid, blending it out, and then adding a touch of shimmer. If you want to really add some depth, try using the same eyeshadow as a highlighter on the brow bone and inner corner of the eye. This is also a great way to add some definition to your eyelashes.
