Before I started to learn about the world of automobiles, I thought that the most important tool was a screwdriver. While that is still a good tool to have, there are many other tools that are even more important for basic car repair and maintenance.

In this article, I will share 6 tools that you should have in your car for basic car repair and maintenance.

Jack

The jack is one of the most important tools in your car. We use it to lift the vehicle when it needs to be fixed or replaced.

The jack is also used when you need to raise or lower the vehicle so that you can work on it from underneath it. It is very useful for both small repairs and larger repairs like replacing wheels or changing tires.

If you don’t have a jack, you can use a block of wood or a metal pole as a substitute for lifting your vehicle off of its wheels/tires.

Flashlight

A flashlight is also very useful when working on your car. A flashlight can be used in two ways: To light up an area that you are working on, or as a light source so that you can see what you are doing.

When working on your car, you may need to look under the vehicle, inside the engine compartment, or under the hood. If you don’t have a flashlight, a small flashlight with a bright LED light can be used as a substitute for a more powerful flashlight.

Torque Wrench

A torque wrench is used to measure how much force is being applied to an object. This is very useful when tightening or loosening nuts and bolts.

There are several types of torque wrenches available, but I personally prefer the digital type that has a digital readout and can also be used as an angle gauge.
